Release notes for EZWxBrief v3.0.0

Updated: May 30

Below are the release notes for EZWxBrief™ version 3.0.0

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been added to the EZWxBrief progressive web app. Among many other aspects, a new EZAI Weather Briefing is now available when viewing the Map or Route Profile view. Keep in mind, this is a beta release and that AI can and does make mistakes. Therefore, it is imperative to check all weather guidance before making any decision to depart.

  • Changes to the Ground Time and Leg 2 Altitude for a route with a stopover airport will now be saved.

  • Changed the selectable altitudes for a new route such that 1,000 feet is the lowest altitude and altitudes above the transition altitude (18,000 feet) are only selectable by 1000-foot increments.

  • TAF markers now are rendered on the Map for airports that are included in the route.

  • Fixed an issue that was causing the EZDeparture Advisor slider handle to advance backward and become out of sync with the time label after a period inactivity while viewing the Map or Route Profile.

  • Fixed a bug that was causing forecast winds not to be used to calculate groundspeeds for some VFR cruise altitudes.

  • Changed the crosswind component calculation for METARs and station forecasts to use magnetic variation

  • Updated the Pilots Guide with new features and fixed a few typos.

  • Squashed a number of smaller bugs and made other under-the-hood enhancements to make the platform more stable and responsive.

Given that EZWxBrief is designed to run as a progressive web app, there's nothing you need to do. If open, just close the app and new releases are seamless and become available the next time you restart the app.
