Below are the release notes for EZWxBrief™ version 3.7.0
Replaced the HRRR forecast radar layer attribute with the new Rapid Refresh Forecast System (RRFS) forecast radar that has 15 minute times steps with a lead time to 18 hours and hourly to 60 hours.
Added a new attribute to the Radar layer called Echo Tops > 30,000 feet. This is taken from the from the new Rapid Ensemble Forecast System (REFS) which provides the probability that echo tops will be above 30,000 feet MSL.
Incorporated the new RRFS model into the blend of models being used in the EZWxBrief progressive web app.
An IFR/VFR setting was added to support the Altitude Advisor.
Added smart altitudes with the Altitude Advisor to choose proper altitudes based on IFR/VFR settings and to utilize the FAA east/west hemispheric rule.
The lightning data is now separated into cloud-to-ground (gold) and intracloud (violet) strikes rendered on the Map.
Added a departure date/time below the Altitude Advisor on the Route Editor.
Reversing the route now will change the altitude depending on the FAA hemispheric rule and the IFR/VFR setting.
The lightning layer was extended from four to six hours to provide more historical content.
Changed the Tactical Decision Aid to show "Variable" when there's a variable wind forecast/observed and changed the wind graph label/dot to gray.
Fixed an issue that was showing gray squares (missing) for the departure advisor when the forecast winds were light and variable.
Removed the "API key required" watermark that was being displayed on the Dark Base Map.
Recent and Saved routes that include a Stopover airport will now preserve the Stopover airport when it is opened in the Map or Route Profile.
Updated the Pilots Guide to be consistent with EZWxBrief v3.7.0.
Squashed a number of smaller bugs and made other under-the-hood enhancements to make the platform more stable and responsive.
Given that EZWxBrief is designed to run as a progressive web app, there's nothing you need to do. If open, just close the app and new releases are seamless and become available the next time you restart the app.
