EZTip - Deleting a route in EZWxBrief

Once an active route is created in EZWxBrief, it will persist from one session to another. This is primarily to facilitate using EZWxBrief on multiple devices. Often you may start your preflight weather planning for a proposed route using a desktop computer and later switch to using a portable device such as an iPad a few hours prior to your departure. Therefore, keeping the route active will facilitate moving between devices. However, when you are done with the active route how do you delete it from the Map?

Unlike some applications, EZWxBrief does not require a route unless you need to evaluate the weather along a proposed flight against your personal minimums. If you don't have a specific route to plan, you may want to delete the active route. This can be done using the route editor that is available from most views (i.e., Map, Airport Wx, Route Profile, and Dashboard).

For example, let's say you are viewing the Map, and the active route is loaded. Bring up the route editor by pressing on the Route button in the upper left (see purple arrow below). The active route will be filled in for your departure and destination airports as well as your proposed route of flight that may include airports, VOR identifiers and other intersections or fixes. Next, you will notice a Delete button at the top of the route editor window (red arrow below). If you press on this button, you will be asked to confirm that you want to delete the active route. Upon confirming, the active route will be deleted from the Map. Note: if you are viewing the route profile when deleting the active route, the route profile will be closed and the Map will be rendered in its place.

At this point the active route on the map will be removed and the EZDeparture Advisor will change to one with all gray summary boxes as shown below. Moreover, if you were to press the Profile button with no active route in place, it will render the route editor to allow you to enter a new route. A route is required in order to display a route profile view.
